Is it time for suspension repair? These signs point to yes!The suspension is much more than the system that controls the comfort of the vehicle's ride. While this is does do this it also has a much more important role. The suspension is designed to keep all four wheels on the ground at any given time, ensuring proper braking power. It is also tasked with preventing rollovers or other loss of control during cornering. If you suspect any sort of suspension issue be sure to contact your local mechanic to have it repaired right away in order to keep your vehicle safe to drive.

Oily Struts

A surefire way to determine if the suspension is suffering from some sort of ailment is to feel the struts to see if there's any fluid leaking from them. Struts use an oil that allows for the absorption of bounce. If the struts begin to leak this fluid your ride will begin to feel very rigid. You will need to replace the failed components to restore the driveability and comfort of your car's ride.

One Corner is Low

If it appears that one corner of your vehicle is lower than the rest but the tire is not flat there's a good chance that the issue is being caused by failed suspension parts. This is a cause for concern because this may result in your vehicle drifting to one side or the other while driving, increase tire wear and decrease fuel efficiency.

Rolling Sensation

Perhaps the scariest symptom of failed suspension is the feeling that your vehicle is going to rollover while cornering. This will occur if the anti-swaybar has malfunctioned. This particular part is tasked with shifting the vehicle's center of gravity during cornering to help prevent rollovers, spinning out or any other loss of control.

Excessive Bouncing

One of the first things you may notice if the suspension is on its way out is that your vehicle will seem to bounce excessively. You can test this by pressing on the hood or the trunk of your vehicle several times to get it to start bouncing. Once you stop pushing on the car it should return to a stable position within 3 to 4 bounces. If it continues to jump up-and-down you can be more positive that some suspension components, such as the shocks, have in fact failed and need to be replaced.

The suspension plays an integral role in keeping your ride safe, which is why it is very important to maintain it.
